2/5/2009Martin Muldoon from BA-Insight, my colleague Anthony Handley (MVP, Expression: Design), and I are presenting the following webinar on February 17th. Register Now! Automate Business Processes Using InfoPath Forms with Integrated SharePoint Designer Workflows… WITHOUT CODING! Asif Rehmani SharePoint Server MVP Trainer/Solution Architect SharePoint Solutions
Forms and Workflows are essential to business processes. Organizations usually rely on programmers to create the forms and workflows using code. Well, code no longer! If you have access to Microsoft Office InfoPath and Microsoft Office SharePoint Designer, you can create powerful data driven form solutions on your SharePoint sites.
InfoPath gives you the ability to pull data from databases and lists, and create forms with data validation and conditional formatting. SharePoint Designer's workflows let you then design powerful multi-step workflows centered around the form collected data. In this presentation, you will see how to design a robust form using InfoPath and then design a workflow using SharePoint Designer to route this form appropriately...all WITHOUT CODE!

These help me keep the flow of the presentation. Keynotes this evening: Got into the first keynote late, sat in the back, and the audio was completely unintelligible. On the screen, which was not that easy to read, someone was doing something in Visual Studio. The second Keynote however, was by Steve Riley, and was very interesting. I would write more, but my priority now however is to practice my presentations. 9/9/2008Codeapalooza, a full Saturday of free technical education hosted by CNUG and a number of other sponsors including Microsoft and Magenic, was unexpectedly fun. There was a full day of SharePoint sessions. I walked in, planning to be just an attendee. Keith, who is both my boss and the guy who organized the event, told me that the first SharePoint speaker was a no-show, and asked me to help Brian Gorbett with the first SharePoint session. Which is exactly what I did. Brian and I did a Q&A session where we fielded questions from the attendees - a room of ... 30? ... people. It was fun, and when the next speaker, who was to present on how SharePoint can replace simple CRUD apps (CRUD: CReate, Update, and Delete), also did not show, I did a solo second Q&A session starting with that topic. I had my presentation, "An Introduction to MOSS Administration", ready to go, but didn't get a chance to give it because 1) the attendees in the second session wanted to discuss the original topic, and 2) the other speakers for the subsequent three sessions were there and on time as expected. Walt Hodgson and Paul Schaeflein, who spoke later in the day, were both good speakers. I noticed that Paul uses the Beyond Bullet Points presentation methodology too. There were three things that I wanted to let every SharePointer there know about: 1) CSPUG. The Chicago SharePoint User Group. If you are an IT Pro or a Dev in the context of SharePoint, you really should come to these meetings. 2) SDPS. SharePoint Deployment Planning Services. This is a service only qualified MS Partners can provide, and Magenic is one such partner. As the project management adage goes, if you fail to plan, you plan to fail. So if you have SDPS as a Software Assurance benefit, I'd urge you to use it. 3) Magenic is hiring. We are expanding our team of SharePoint consultants. If you are interested, leave me a blog comment with your email address. Michael |
